After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Lars Brüning managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Kusel's supporters rose to their feet, but Lars Brüning was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Demetrius Jörn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sergej Maluga in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Demetrius Jörn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of FC Kusel booed when fenerbahce was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pierre Bode didn't get a good kick on the ball. Demetrius Jörn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Brüning, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Uri Skudelny hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as fenerbahce's Friedrich Klein slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Xerxes Hauffen. That made the score 1-0 after 31 minutes of play. When Moritz Cramer came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the fenerbahce fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moritz Cramer couldn't finish the play. After 40 minutes, Pierre Bode mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the fenerbahce and the FC Kusel players grew even worse after the yellow card.
