With his leg Ilja Sieg managed to avoid a goal in the 15thth minute, when Hamburger Sportverein's Dankward Amstutz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Dankward Amstutz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hamburger Sportverein's supporters rose to their feet, but Dankward Amstutz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ilja Sieg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benno Berninger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mario Nowack having to interfere. If Willi Rothensteiner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Croatia United's Ilja Sieg got control of the ball when Dankward Amstutz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ilja Sieg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ilja Sieg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Willi Rothensteiner in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Willi Rothensteiner stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Friedrich Tschorn kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Norbert Abraham took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 83rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ilja Sieg. Croatia United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Dankward Amstutz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. After 93 played minutes Hamburger Sportverein got a freekick which was hit by Norbert Abraham. After recieving a nice pass, Croatia United's Nicolas Lienen tried to score from far away in the 94th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Croatia United's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
