After 10 minutes, Burt Klösters mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the USAK SPOR 1979 and the 1. FC Kleve players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 10th match minute, USAK SPOR 1979 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Burt Klösters to maneuver through the defense. Yannik Buljevic fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Okke Jastrzembowski having to interfere. Okke Jastrzembowski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Percy Schmalacker in the 14th minute. After 16 played minutes USAK SPOR 1979 got a freekick which was hit by Karsten Damerau. Percy Schmalacker was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 22nd minute. 1. FC Kleve's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Yannik Buljevic received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Okke Jastrzembowski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Friedrich Hog-Heidel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 31 minutes into the match, 1. FC Kleve's goal looked a bit too open when Friedrich Hog-Heidel came free, but Akira Hölzgen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, USAK SPOR 1979's goalkeeper Okke Jastrzembowski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Percy Schmalacker. Yannik Buljevic sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Okke Jastrzembowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yannik Buljevic in the 39th minute of play. When Percy Schmalacker came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the 1. FC Kleve fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Percy Schmalacker couldn't finish the play. 44 minutes into the match, USAK SPOR 1979's goal looked a bit too open when Yannik Buljevic came free, but Okke Jastrzembowski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Yannik Buljevic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Yannik Buljevic to make the kick off. Akira Hölzgen didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 53rd minute, which inside left pole to 0-1. With his leg Akira Hölzgen managed to avoid a goal in the 56thth minute, when USAK SPOR 1979's Friedrich Hog-Heidel fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Yannik Buljevic fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Okke Jastrzembowski having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yannik Buljevic in the 62nd minute of play forced USAK SPOR 1979's goalkeeper Okke Jastrzembowski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64th minute Yannik Buljevic shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Okke Jastrzembowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Percy Schmalacker managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1. FC Kleve's supporters rose to their feet, but Percy Schmalacker was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Okke Jastrzembowski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Karsten Damerau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 72nd minute, Olaf Michael Tokody hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Friedrich Hog-Heidel scored 0-2 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Akira Hölzgen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Okke Jastrzembowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Percy Schmalacker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 87 minutes, Percy Schmalacker managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 1. FC Kleve's supporters crossed their fingers, but Percy Schmalacker was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Akira Hölzgen made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Friedrich Hog-Heidel sent off a good shot on target.
