FC Kleve's supporters crossed their fingers, but Percy Schmalacker was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Yannik Buljevic received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Samuel Scheck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Philip Rathje charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Philip Rathje the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arend Bollmann during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 12th minute, Arend Bollmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Percy Schmalacker kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Samuel Scheck. That made the score 1-0 in the 13 minute of play. When Percy Schmalacker came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the 1. FC Kleve fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Percy Schmalacker couldn't finish the play. In the 28th minute, Yannik Buljevic got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Percy Schmalacker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Percy Schmalacker in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Samuel Scheck, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 38 minutes into the match, 1. FC Kleve's Yannik Buljevic sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Samuel Scheck narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Yannik Buljevic fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Scheck having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Rainer Eichel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arend Bollmann to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hayden Weißgerber during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rainer Eichel was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 56th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. FC SCHALKE 04's Samuel Scheck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yannik Buljevic in the 60th minute of play. If Yannik Buljevic had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the FC SCHALKE 04 defense, Percy Schmalacker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Samuel Scheck. The FC SCHALKE 04 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samuel Scheck should have stopped the shot. Samuel Scheck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Percy Schmalacker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Samuel Scheck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yannik Buljevic in the 77th minute of the match. Samuel Scheck came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by 1. FC Kleve's Hayden Weißgerber. But to his dismay, Hayden Weißgerber quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Percy Schmalacker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Scheck having to interfere. Yannik Buljevic sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. 1. FC Kleve fully deserved thier win.
