Emmerich Schmitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rolf Klöser in the 5th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the game, Rolf Klöser cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Emmerich Schmitz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rolf Klöser was extremely unlucky when he, in the 11th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Gerhart Mönch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matthias Dunz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Emmerich Schmitz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Ferdinand Ammermann managed to get in a good position for a shot. Viersen FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ferdinand Ammermann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emmerich Schmitz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 23rd minute of the match, Heidrich Molling tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Emmerich Schmitz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Matthias Dunz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Emmerich Schmitz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rolf Klöser's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. In the 27th minute, Raphael Blees hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Rolf Klöser in the 31st play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Emmerich Schmitz kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 2-0 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. The crowd rose to their feet as Viersen FC's Renato Jourdan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Emmerich Schmitz. That made the score 3-0 after 36 minutes of play. 41 minutes into the match, FC Poldi's goalkeeper Emmerich Schmitz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matthias Dunz. Renato Jourdan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Emmerich Schmitz made a huge save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gerhart Mönch made a kick off. Renato Jourdan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Emmerich Schmitz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the FC Poldi defense, Matthias Dunz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emmerich Schmitz. The FC Poldi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emmerich Schmitz should have stopped the shot. Matthias Dunz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 63rd minute, Heidrich Molling got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. FC Poldi's Emmerich Schmitz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renato Jourdan in the 64th minute of play. Emmerich Schmitz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Heidrich Molling went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 8-0 was the resulting score. If Matthias Dunz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raphael Blees's late challenge caught a Viersen FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raphael Blees helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Viersen FC booed when FC Poldi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raphael Blees didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Poldi's zone, Heidrich Molling stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emmerich Schmitz came out of the goal and Heidrich Molling tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Heidrich Molling had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 94 minutes, Renato Jourdan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Viersen FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Renato Jourdan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Heidrich Molling had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Viersen FC fully deserved thier win.
