Rafael Rump fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Spanehl having to interfere. When the match clock showed 9 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Rafael Rump sped through 1 FC LUPUS's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Patrick Spanehl. 12 minutes into the game, Viersen FC's Matthias Dunz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Patrick Spanehl made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 17 minutes into the match, Matthias Dunz notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of 1 FC LUPUS's Patrick Spanehl. Patrick Spanehl was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Renato Jourdan's late challenge caught a 1 FC LUPUS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Renato Jourdan helped the player get up and apologised. Jona Cosini charged in rather forcefully in the 99th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jona Cosini the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Viersen FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
