SG Torpedo Dresden's Reinald Klingler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jochen Feckter in the 25th minute of play. Dietmar Kornath showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Perry Kamme, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. If Lawrence Bräker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 33rd minute by Abbe Huber got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in SG Torpedo Dresden's zone, Wilfried Ewald stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reinald Klingler came out of the goal and Wilfried Ewald tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilfried Ewald made a kick off. In the 54th minute, Jochen Feckter got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wilfried Ewald recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lawrence Bräker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dietmar Kornath having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Storchenhof's Dieter Schächterle got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Reinald Klingler showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abbe Huber in the 64th minute of the match. Hasso Benischke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute, Geert Sachse hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jochen Feckter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reinald Klingler having to interfere. Reinald Klingler took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilfried Ewald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wilfried Ewald struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Reinald Klingler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Storchenhof. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Storchenhof players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
