In the 22ndth minute of the game Carlos Malta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hüttenheim FSV's Kersten Piter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Axel Uhl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Piet Dreher, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Carlos Malta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kersten Piter read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. In the 38th minute, Joakim Ohme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Osvaldo Urbes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 44 minutes into the match, SV Helsa's goal looked a bit too open when Flemming Fochler came free, but Axel Uhl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The wind increased when Carlos Malta made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flemming Fochler in the 52nd minute of play forced SV Helsa's goalkeeper Axel Uhl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Osvaldo Urbes hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. SV Helsa's attentive Osvaldo Urbes managed to snatch the ball when Constantin Heller made a throw-in in the 60th minute of the game. Carlos Malta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
