Konrad Bix started the match with the kick off. Thomas Yilmaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 7th minute, Thomas Yilmaz made a precise shot to the right of Dietmar Trommer. Wolsfeld's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After some careless play in the Corinthians São Paulo defense, Lothar Krebs kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dimitrios Dirkes. The Corinthians São Paulo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dimitrios Dirkes should have stopped the shot. Dimitrios Dirkes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Volker Bentz in the 16th minute. Gordian Sylla hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 19th match minute, Corinthians São Paulo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ubbo Owomoyela to maneuver through the defense. Lothar Krebs could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Dimitrios Dirkes made a huge save. The supporters of Wolsfeld booed when Corinthians São Paulo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Perez Stegelmeier didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Ubbo Owomoyela put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Dietmar Trommer. When Wolsfeld's Konrad Bix in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Konrad Bix in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dimitrios Dirkes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lothar Krebs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Dimitrios Dirkes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Aristide Wolnik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Konrad Bix's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dimitrios Dirkes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Vincent Teiser sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 48 minutes into the match, Wolsfeld's goal looked a bit too open when Heimko Debus came free, but Dietmar Trommer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Corinthians São Paulo were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Steven Hauck recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Corinthians São Paulo's zone, Lothar Krebs stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dimitrios Dirkes came out of the goal and Lothar Krebs tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 71 played minutes Corinthians São Paulo got a freekick which was hit by Otmar Hackner. Lothar Krebs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Steven Hauck kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Corinthians São Paulo's Heimko Debus shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 84th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Dietmar Trommer but with some difficulty. After 85 played minutes Wolsfeld got a freekick which was hit by Björn Ganz. In the 89thth minute of the game Konrad Bix who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Corinthians São Paulo's Dimitrios Dirkes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Björn Ganz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Lothar Krebs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chants of Corinthians São Paulo echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Wolsfeld had held the ball for most of the match.
