Spectators: 7440 (Terracing: 5664, Seating: 1736, VIP seats: 40) In the 4th minute, Hernan Della left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Werdohl fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. When Albert Diebold came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Hertha Bunde fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albert Diebold couldn't finish the play. Gerold Gottwald made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucien Wächter in the 19th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Werdohl's Lucien Wächter slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gerold Gottwald. That made the score 2-2 after 25 minutes of play. Ratko Jacob got a throw-in 29 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Wolfgang Barow. Gerold Gottwald showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucien Wächter in the 34th minute of the match. In the 35thth minute of the game Albert Diebold who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Werdohl's Paulo Lotter was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Paulo Lotter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wolfgang Barow, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After 40 played minutes Hertha Bunde got a freekick which was hit by Ingo Prautzsch. Gerold Gottwald made an important save on a dangerous shot by Niels Bebel in the 43rd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Albert Diebold made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Lucien Wächter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerold Gottwald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 56th minute of the match Hertha Bunde got a corner. Werdohl's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ingo Prautzsch ran over to the corner to take the kick. 58 minutes into the match, Hertha Bunde's goal looked a bit too open when Hernan Della came free, but Gerold Gottwald reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Albert Diebold took a quick shot and it went in 2-3 without a chance for Paulo Lotter to make any attempt to save it. In the 65th match minute, Hertha Bunde was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Schönbeck to maneuver through the defense. When Egon Gaffga came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Werdohl fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Egon Gaffga couldn't finish the play. After 68 minutes of play, Werdohl's Hernan Della made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gerold Gottwald was left in no man's land by his defense there! After having played for 71 minutes, Niels Bebel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Werdohl's supporters crossed their fingers, but Niels Bebel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gerold Gottwald took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernan Della, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rd minute Lucien Wächter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerold Gottwald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Wolfgang Barow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 77th minute, Hernan Della ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gerold Gottwald was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. Lovis Diekelmann scored 5-3 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gerold Gottwald, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ratko Jacob made in the 87th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Björn Preuss. 91 minutes into the game, Werdohl's Hernan Della nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gerold Gottwald made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-3. There was no doubt that Werdohl were the better team. Werdohl's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
