In the 14th minute August Karhoff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Curt Hourani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If August Karhoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 21 minutes, Barry Berrisch mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hamburger Sport Verein and the Kicker Krefeld players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Hamburger Sport Verein fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 21st minute. Penalty! Curt Hourani came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Hamburger Sport Verein's Niklas Rinke. But to his dismay, Niklas Rinke quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After having played for 42 minutes, Wilfried Kleppinger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kicker Krefeld's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilfried Kleppinger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 43rd minute, Conny Mannheim got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arndt Akgün hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Hamburger Sport Verein's Niklas Rinke got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. August Karhoff was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Kicker Krefeld was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roswin Kremers to maneuver through the defense. August Karhoff received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Curt Hourani came out and tried to block the shot, but August Karhoff slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 52nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ludwig Betz during the 55th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 56 played minutes Kicker Krefeld got a freekick which was hit by Ludwig Betz. In the 56th minute of the match Kassian Seelig shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Curt Hourani showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If August Karhoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Hamburger Sport Verein booed when Kicker Krefeld was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arndt Akgün didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Curt Hourani managed to avoid a goal in the 65thth minute, when Hamburger Sport Verein's Niklas Rinke fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Curt Hourani showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from August Karhoff in the 66th minute of the match. Wilfried Kleppinger blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kai Zenetti having to make a save. Kai Zenetti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Conny Mannheim in the 74th minute of play. Niklas Rinke struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Curt Hourani didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hamburger Sport Verein. Kassian Elzer charged in rather forcefully in the 81st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kassian Elzer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 81st minute, Kassian Elzer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If August Karhoff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Niklas Rinke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Curt Hourani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Wilfried Kleppinger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arndt Akgün kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. 95 minutes into the match, Kicker Krefeld's Conny Mannheim sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kai Zenetti narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 95 played minutes Hamburger Sport Verein got a freekick which was hit by Lucien Kauch.
