After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Franz Wehner managed to get in a good position for a shot. Philipp Olowka breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute, Jörg Paech made a precise shot to the right of Philipp Olowka. In the 46th minute Johan Korell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bastian Maas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Union Solingen walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
