Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Sandor Bergsohn started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 10th minute Sandor Bergsohn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roland Overkamp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Stoppenbach's Werner Schäuble slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gunther Schaub. That made the score 1-0 after 13 minutes of play. Roland Overkamp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandor Bergsohn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 17 played minutes Stoppenbach got a freekick which was hit by Kai Arbogast. Abi Ungerechts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Gunther Schaub tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Günter Clemens ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Roland Overkamp was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Hannes Göring hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. The supporters of Ludwigsburg booed when Stoppenbach was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kai Arbogast didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute, Günter Clemens got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 34th minute, Hannes Göring hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes into the match, Ludwigsburg's goal looked a bit too open when Werner Schäuble came free, but Gunther Schaub reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Abi Ungerechts might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gunther Schaub. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abi Ungerechts ran back to his position shaking his head. Ludwigsburg's Gunther Schaub played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Werner Schäuble in the 40th minute of play. Raphael Seeliger hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Abi Ungerechts made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Werner Schäuble in the 59th minute of play forced Ludwigsburg's goalkeeper Gunther Schaub to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Sandor Bergsohn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Roland Overkamp was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Ludwigsburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Günter Clemens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roland Overkamp breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gunther Schaub showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Werner Schäuble in the 78th minute of the match. Werner Schäuble fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gunther Schaub having to interfere. Stoppenbach's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
