In the 19th minute Toralf Eichler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erno Günes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erno Günes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Loris Bornemann in the 21st minute of play. 23 minutes into the game, 1. FC Hüls's Loris Bornemann nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Erno Günes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. When Vicco Rinnerer came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the 1. FC Hüls fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vicco Rinnerer couldn't finish the play. In the 29th minute, Donald Ripp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 31 minutes of play, 1. FC Hüls's Loris Bornemann made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erno Günes was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 34th minute Bastian Biehl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ekkehard Paroth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kees Weber charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Erno Günes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Loris Bornemann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half 1. FC Hüls were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Bastian Biehl made the kick off in the second half. Erno Günes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Vicco Rinnerer showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-5 in the 62 minute of play. In the 66th minute Vicco Rinnerer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erno Günes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
