Crotta's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stapelberg FSV the free kick. The supporters of Stapelberg FSV booed when Crotta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Holm Freund didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bastian Biehl in the 7th minute of play forced Stapelberg FSV's goalkeeper Jürgen Krenn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Niko Hewerer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stapelberg FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but Niko Hewerer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erno Günes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ali Murat Flosbach fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erno Günes having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Falko Gruhn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Holm Freund was shown his second yellow card after 20 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Holm Freund hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. 22 minutes into the match, Crotta's goal looked a bit too open when Falko Gruhn came free, but Erno Günes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luis Galen made in the 25th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Bastian Biehl. Falko Gruhn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erno Günes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduard Grosser in the 48th minute of play forced Crotta's goalkeeper Erno Günes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Ali Murat Flosbach's late challenge caught a Crotta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Donald Ripp hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. When Falko Gruhn came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Stapelberg FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Falko Gruhn couldn't finish the play. Falko Gruhn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Erno Günes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 79 minutes, Donald Ripp mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Crotta and the Stapelberg FSV players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match clock showed 81 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Falko Gruhn sped through Crotta's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Erno Günes. Falko Gruhn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erno Günes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. In the 92nd minute Falko Gruhn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erno Günes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Stapelberg FSV players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
