A collision led to Unterhaching getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Harald Gomminginger hit a great ball. Hernan Boskamp showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frieder Eckhardt, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 38 minutes into the game, Heini Plath lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Werner Bürsch. Trutz Rathje's late challenge caught a Unterhaching's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hernan Boskamp didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Unterhaching. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Heini Plath was the one to do the kick off. Tobias Rehmet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jeremy Wenzel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Werner Bürsch showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Hernan Boskamp made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alfred Ratzmann in the 81st minute. Hernan Boskamp took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremy Wenzel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Heini Plath in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Werner Bürsch saved Unterhaching from getting behind. Gönnjamin FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
