Manchester of United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Volker Wischnowsky was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lars Hegendörfer during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 13th minute, Lars Hegendörfer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Frido Lausberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Górnik Zabrze's supporters rose to their feet, but Frido Lausberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ehrhard Czylwick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gunter Steinfurth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcus Rashford having to interfere. Manchester of United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Górnik Zabrze the free kick. Ehrhard Czylwick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frido Lausberg in the 28th minute of play. Frido Lausberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Cosimo Hötte notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Manchester of United's Ehrhard Czylwick. Ehrhard Czylwick was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 42 minutes into the match, Manchester of United's goal looked a bit too open when Frido Lausberg came free, but Ehrhard Czylwick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fox Kochmann to make the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Manchester of United's Fox Kochmann made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcus Rashford was left in no man's land by his defense there! Cosimo Hötte scored 2-3 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ehrhard Czylwick, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gunter Steinfurth in the 59th minute of play forced Górnik Zabrze's goalkeeper Marcus Rashford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Karsten Karge kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Gunter Steinfurth blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcus Rashford having to make a save. Ehrhard Czylwick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Volker Wischnowsky in the 69th minute of play. Górnik Zabrze's Marcus Rashford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fox Kochmann in the 79th minute of play. 84 minutes into the match, Volker Wischnowsky dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ehrhard Czylwick, 2-4. Florian Gieß received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Marcus Rashford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Florian Gieß might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Marcus Rashford. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Florian Gieß ran back to his position shaking his head. Marcus Rashford stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gunter Steinfurth's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. When the match was over Górnik Zabrze could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Manchester of United throughout the match.
