In the 11thth minute of the game Octavian Basten who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oberndorf's Claudio Apicella was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 12 minutes into the game, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Octavian Basten nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Claudio Apicella made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. After 14 minutes of play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Octavian Basten made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Claudio Apicella was left in no man's land by his defense there! Octavian Basten in the 17thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Claudio Apicella, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Mesut Özil struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Octavian Basten in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Claudio Apicella prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 27 minutes into the match, Oberndorf's goal looked a bit too open when Octavian Basten came free, but Claudio Apicella reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 30 minutes, Anestis Kotsopoulos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rot-Weiss-Essen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anestis Kotsopoulos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Claudio Apicella didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Octavian Basten went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. In the 40th minute, Hugo Haupt ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Claudio Apicella was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. Claudio Apicella came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Rot-Weiss-Essen's Mesut Özil. But to his dismay, Mesut Özil quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 9-0. 46 minutes into the game, Hugo Haupt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 10-0. Claudio Apicella was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ion Jula stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Claudio Apicella came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Rot-Weiss-Essen's Octavian Basten. But to his dismay, Octavian Basten quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 11-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 59th minute of play forced Oberndorf's goalkeeper Claudio Apicella to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Uwe Ziege played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yao Rong Zhen in the 61st minute of play. Claudio Apicella made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octavian Basten in the 62nd minute of play. Yao Rong Zhen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uwe Ziege having to interfere. A collision led to Oberndorf getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Dick Lodgman von Auen hit a great ball. Claudio Apicella showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Octavian Basten in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 73rd minute Hugo Haupt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudio Apicella saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 76th match minute, Oberndorf was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yao Rong Zhen to maneuver through the defense. The Rot-Weiss-Essen fans' excitement grew in the 78th match minute when Rot-Weiss-Essen's Hugo Haupt looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 13-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a defensive mix-up in Oberndorf's zone, Mesut Özil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claudio Apicella came out of the goal and Mesut Özil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Claudio Apicella showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anestis Kotsopoulos, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Oberndorf's goalkeeper Claudio Apicella, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 87th minute, Octavian Basten ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Claudio Apicella was frozen by the shot and now it was 14-0. When Rot-Weiss-Essen's Octavian Basten in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Oberndorf's goalie prevented a goal. Octavian Basten scored 15-0 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Claudio Apicella, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some careless play in the Oberndorf defense, Octavian Basten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Claudio Apicella. The Oberndorf fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudio Apicella should have stopped the shot. When the referee ended the match the Rot-Weiss-Essen players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
