Gunther Placke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pascal Oppermann having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Roland Altmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sebastian Mann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Moschner in the 38th minute of play. Sebastian Mann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Konrad Saager, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wacker Gotha 1895's Monty Moschner got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Konrad Saager sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The SV Rittsteig players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Wacker Gotha 1895 were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Walter Boos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
