The KFC Uerdingen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis should have stopped the shot. In the 8th match minute, Küsd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Hecht to maneuver through the defense. Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Küsd's Aristide Apostel. But to his dismay, Aristide Apostel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When Egidius Pfitzner fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KFC Uerdingen's protests and gave Egidius Pfitzner a yellow card for diving instead. 14 minutes into the match, Küsd's goalkeeper Christen Ruppmann had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Egidius Pfitzner. Matthias Kurbjuweit who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 18thth minute tested the skills of Christen Ruppmann when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Siegfried Tassler in the 19th minute of play forced KFC Uerdingen's goalkeeper Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hemmo Bothner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Küsd's Will Frieb got a free kick in the 24th minute. Raik Welskop kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Küsd's Hemmo Bothner. But to his dismay, Hemmo Bothner quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 31st minute, Egidius Pfitzner ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Christen Ruppmann was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aristide Apostel during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 39th match minute, Küsd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aristide Apostel to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the match, Hemmo Bothner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis. KFC Uerdingen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hemmo Bothner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hemmo Bothner stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of KFC Uerdingen booed when Küsd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Hecht didn't get a good kick on the ball. KFC Uerdingen made a substitution. Eros Guttenberg replaced Karl Gabler. Felix Hecht hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. KFC Uerdingen's Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save KFC Uerdingen from getting a goal against them. Hemmo Bothner did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-6 to the left of a surprised Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis 81 minutes into the match. Hemmo Bothner in the 84thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Klaus-Dieter van Hoddis, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Aristide Apostel hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as KFC Uerdingen had held the ball for most of the match.
