Alflen FSV's Ignaz Göhring shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 8th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Mats Gorges but with some difficulty. Karim Scheuerlein didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tim Dietzsch went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Christoph Wolters could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Mats Gorges made a huge save. Helmut Kuschel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karim Scheuerlein having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Tim Dietzsch left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Greven United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Tim Dietzsch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Karim Scheuerlein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tim Dietzsch to strike the kick off in the second half. Mats Gorges showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rufus Mendelsohn, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute.
