The supporters of VfL Tegel booed when Besitz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mehdi Harpain didn't get a good kick on the ball. VfL Tegel's Eberhard Baur proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save VfL Tegel from getting a goal against them. Niels Braun hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in VfL Tegel's zone, Rainer Nießen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eberhard Baur came out of the goal and Rainer Nießen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Näsib Baxşaliyev fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eberhard Baur having to interfere. In the 32ndth minute of the game Eugen Spanehl who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Besitz's Hark Holthuis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Näsib Baxşaliyev's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eberhard Baur read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When Besitz's Rainer Nießen in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye VfL Tegel's goalie prevented a goal. In the 58th match minute, VfL Tegel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Frank Groll to maneuver through the defense. Näsib Baxşaliyev struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Eberhard Baur didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Besitz. 61 minutes into the game, Frank Groll was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. VfL Tegel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Besitz the free kick. After 61 played minutes VfL Tegel got a freekick which was hit by Frank Groll. In the 68th match minute, VfL Tegel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carl Meier to maneuver through the defense. Näsib Baxşaliyev might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eberhard Baur. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Näsib Baxşaliyev ran back to his position shaking his head. Hark Holthuis made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Otto Klemme sent off a good shot on target. With an all-out effort, VfL Tegel's Hark Holthuis threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eugen Spanehl, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Mehdi Harpain fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Besitz's protests and gave Mehdi Harpain a yellow card for diving instead. When VfL Tegel's Eugen Spanehl in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Besitz's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 95 minutes, Näsib Baxşaliyev managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Besitz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Näsib Baxşaliyev was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. VfL Tegel were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Besitz to leave the ground with a draw.
