The supporters of Phönix Kickers booed when InterWerder was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thilo Geldreich didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 8 minutes of play, InterWerder's Frank Pontzen made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nils Schikaneder was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Hugo Große managed to get in a good position for a shot. Phönix Kickers's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Große was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Heiner Kornmeier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 13thth minute of the game Hugo Große who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but InterWerder's Heiner Kornmeier was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Heiner Kornmeier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Große in the 14th minute of play. Hansi Huber was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 16 minutes into the match. The referee gave InterWerder a penalty, 18 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Albrecht Kloppers, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Phönix Kickers's Nils Schikaneder. 0-2. Heiner Kornmeier made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Jürgen Benedikt sent off a good shot on target. Heiner Kornmeier was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Thomas Bahlau showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 28 minute of play. In the 35th minute, Thomas Bahlau left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Phönix Kickers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. 40 minutes into the match, Phönix Kickers's goal looked a bit too open when Henning Nitz came free, but Nils Schikaneder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thomas Bahlau charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Thomas Bahlau the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thomas Bahlau hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. InterWerder's Frank Pontzen got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Heiner Kornmeier didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jürgen Benedikt went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Jürgen Benedikt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Heiner Kornmeier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jürgen Benedikt to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Jürgen Benedikt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Phönix Kickers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave InterWerder the free kick. A collision led to Phönix Kickers getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Jürgen Benedikt hit a great ball. Werner Slesinski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thomas Bahlau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heiner Kornmeier having to interfere. Jürgen Benedikt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Phönix Kickers booed when InterWerder was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hark Reuter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thomas Bahlau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heiner Kornmeier having to interfere. Heiner Kornmeier came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Phönix Kickers's Thomas Bahlau. But to his dismay, Thomas Bahlau quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-2. After 79 played minutes Phönix Kickers got a freekick which was hit by Jorck Binder. Hark Reuter took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nils Schikaneder. Phönix Kickers's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Thomas Bahlau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heiner Kornmeier having to interfere. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind InterWerder's goalkeeper Heiner Kornmeier, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Phönix Kickers booed when InterWerder was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thilo Geldreich didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thomas Bahlau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 95th minute, Thomas Bahlau got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Phönix Kickers's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
