The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Torben Kentschke got the match started through his kick off. In the 2nd minute, Justin Wies hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sebald Popp made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edson Kläsener in the 4th minute. Sebald Popp showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Torben Kentschke, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 10th minute, Felix Grotthaus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute, FC Lewix's Justin Wies seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Justin Wies the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of FC Lewix protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Justin Wies had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 13 minutes into the game, one of FC Lewix:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 20 minutes into the game, Edson Kläsener was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Schalker's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Lewix the free kick. In the 20th match minute, Schalker was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edson Kläsener to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Umberto Burke in the 21st minute of play forced Schalker's goalkeeper Kai Hoyer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hartmut Daum struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Kai Hoyer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Lewix. Kai Hoyer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hartmut Daum, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. During the 28th minute of the match Edson Kläsener completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Edson Kläsener a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 28th minute, Edson Kläsener hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 30 played minutes Schalker got a freekick which was hit by Jan Kahn. In the 31st minute, Umberto Burke ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kai Hoyer was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Torben Kentschke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebald Popp having to interfere. In the 38th minute Fridolin Hollersen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebald Popp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Lewix's defense didn't have a chance, in the 41st minute, when Jan Kahn scored to the left of an out of position Sebald Popp, making the score, 2-1. If Hartmut Daum had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hartmut Daum made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dirk Gutmann during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Schalker getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Dirk Gutmann hit a great ball. In the 53rd minute Hartmut Daum shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kai Hoyer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Torben Kentschke in the 54th minute of play forced FC Lewix's goalkeeper Sebald Popp to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 56 minutes into the game, Torben Kentschke cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Sebald Popp was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 62nd minute, Umberto Burke got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 76 minutes into the game, Umberto Burke was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Lewix's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Schalker the free kick. Sebald Popp didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Einar Betz went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. After 83 played minutes FC Lewix got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Berres. In the 85th minute, Hartmut Daum ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kai Hoyer was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. Jan Kahn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebald Popp having to interfere. In the 92nd minute Torben Kentschke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebald Popp saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
