If Christof Drebes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 4 minutes, Toni Barta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Luneplate and the Heider FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Toni Barta kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Burkhard Wolf took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Schramm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Richard Bernau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Heider FC made a substitution. Wolf Erkiner replaced Christof Drebes. Danko Keil made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Wolf Erkiner sent off a good shot on target. After 17 minutes, Emanuel Schramm made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Heider FC's Burkhard Wolf tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Wolf Erkiner succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 24th playminute. Horst Kloss fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danko Keil having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Luneplate's zone, Wolf Erkiner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danko Keil came out of the goal and Wolf Erkiner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Richard Bernau's late challenge caught a Heider FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Richard Bernau helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Luneplate getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Richard Bernau hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wolf Erkiner got free with Danko Keil in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Burkhard Wolf showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Schramm in the 38th minute of the match. Luneplate were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Heider FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Albrecht Palmer took the corner. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Horst Kloss to strike the kick off in the second half. Heinz Beith charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Heinz Beith the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Luneplate booed when Heider FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heinz Beith didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 71 minutes, Emanuel Schramm managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Luneplate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emanuel Schramm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 74 minutes into the match, Horst Kloss had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Danko Keil. Luneplate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Horst Kloss was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. If Richard Bernau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute Emanuel Schramm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Burkhard Wolf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 97th play minute Richard Bernau came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Burkhard Wolf. 3-2.
