Altenmittlau's Alex Cauli tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Homer Behnert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 15 minutes into the game, Döbelner SC's Algitas Kaščiukaitis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alex Cauli made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 36th minute of the match Döbelner SC got a corner. Altenmittlau's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Wolf-Rüdiger Trener ran over to the corner to take the kick. 39 minutes into the match, Altenmittlau's goal looked a bit too open when Algitas Kaščiukaitis came free, but Alex Cauli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ralf Schlesinger fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Altenmittlau's protests and gave Ralf Schlesinger a yellow card for diving instead. Alex Cauli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Algitas Kaščiukaitis, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Alex Cauli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Algitas Kaščiukaitis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The supporters of Altenmittlau booed when Döbelner SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Döbelner SC played a much better game than Altenmittlau and deserved their victory. The Altenmittlau players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
