In the 13th minute, Björn Ödman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Fenerbahce SK booed when Altenmittlau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurenz Schur didn't get a good kick on the ball. 15 minutes into the match, Altenmittlau's goal looked a bit too open when Rick Scheck came free, but Alex Cauli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alex Cauli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Karsten Jeschik's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. In the 21st minute, Rick Scheck made a precise shot to the right of Alex Cauli. Altenmittlau's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Altenmittlau's Alex Cauli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karsten Jeschik in the 25th minute of play. Fenerbahce SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilbert Indenklef was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The corner led to Fenerbahce SK's Tsuneo Rassek getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. When Fenerbahce SK's Karsten Jeschik in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Altenmittlau's goalie prevented a goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 50th match minute, Altenmittlau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albert Einstein to maneuver through the defense. Ratko Schrag made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulrich Fiedeler in the 57th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Björn Ödman got free with Alex Cauli in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alex Cauli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rick Scheck, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Alex Cauli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Karsten Jeschik in the 64th minute. A collision led to Altenmittlau getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Herbert Könnecke hit a great ball. Klaus Höfken hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. 67 minutes into the match, Altenmittlau's goalkeeper Alex Cauli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karsten Jeschik. Altenmittlau's Alex Cauli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Altenmittlau from getting a goal against them. Karsten Jeschik could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Alex Cauli made a huge save. 76 minutes into the match, Karsten Jeschik dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alex Cauli, 0-2. 80 minutes into the game, Holger Rädle threw the ball into play from the sideline. Fenerbahce SK's Tsuneo Rassek quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After 82 played minutes Altenmittlau got a freekick which was hit by Ulrich Fiedeler. Rick Scheck took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alex Cauli. Alex Cauli dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. In the 91st minute Rick Scheck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Cauli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Altenmittlau's Klaus Höfken got a free kick in the 92nd minute. 93 minutes into the match, Gilbert Indenklef sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Alex Cauli threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Gilbert Indenklef this time. Rick Scheck's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 95thth minute, Alex Cauli skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 97th minute of the match, Rick Scheck tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Alex Cauli saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The Altenmittlau fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Fenerbahce SK were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
