Murat Grotthaus might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Moises Abeijon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Murat Grotthaus ran back to his position shaking his head. Ronnie Hinrichsen hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Winfried Mühlhäuser in the 20th minute of play forced DORTMUND's goalkeeper Kevin Gottmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute Cem Özdemir shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kevin Gottmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Moises Abeijon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eckard Pohl in the 25th minute of play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Murat Grotthaus to make the kick off. Yadulla Färäcov was extremely unlucky when he, in the 53rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 57th match minute, Mittelort was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Torben Rohe to maneuver through the defense. Murat Grotthaus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jeremy Dorn took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kevin Gottmann. Moises Abeijon came out of the goal and Murat Grotthaus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 89th minute, Jeremy Dorn left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mittelort fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Torben Rohe hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mittelort fans cheered their team off the field, for while DORTMUND had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
