After 4 played minutes Mittelort got a freekick which was hit by Dirk-Justus Hasenjäger. 8 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Winfried Mühlhäuser came free, but Hubert Päßler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeremy Dorn who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 12thth minute tested the skills of Hubert Päßler when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 14th minute, Mittelort's Winfried Mühlhäuser ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Hubert Päßler. Hubert Päßler yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. The long shot by Artur Görlitz in the 23rd minute really tested Hubert Päßler's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal.
