Kryspin Cupial took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gigel Elenescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the SSV Ulm 1846 defense, Zé Paulo da Silva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kryspin Cupial. The SSV Ulm 1846 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kryspin Cupial should have stopped the shot. Niclas Monschke recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kryspin Cupial showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 14th minute of the match. Gigel Elenescu made a great header on Hertha 1969's corner, it was just that SSV Ulm 1846's Kryspin Cupial managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 38th minute Wilhelm Nienhaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kryspin Cupial saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Don Merlot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute Emilio Melzer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kryspin Cupial saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Don Merlot stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match SSV Ulm 1846 got a corner. Through an outstanding action, after 72 minutes, Kryspin Cupial successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 80 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's goal looked a bit too open when Benedikt Bensch came free, but Kryspin Cupial reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Don Merlot in the 81st minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kryspin Cupial showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Lothar Heber got a free kick in the 89th minute. Don Merlot's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rune Jarstein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
