Kryspin Cupial showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iwo Sawicki, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. The SSV Ulm 1846 fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when SSV Ulm 1846's Niclas Monschke looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a little luck, SSV Ulm 1846's Kryspin Cupial got control of the ball when Gaizka Mendieta tried to sneak it across the goal line. Iwo Sawicki scored 1-3 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kryspin Cupial, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. SSV Ulm 1846's supporters crossed their fingers, but Don Merlot was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Iwo Sawicki stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute Niclas Monschke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Josef Witlatschil saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Josef Witlatschil showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niclas Monschke, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute.
