In the 4th minute, František Krkoška hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jaroslav Hampejs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roman Stočes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes into the match, FC Orlando Pirates's goal looked a bit too open when Roman Stočes came free, but Jaroslav Hampejs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 8 minutes, Roman Stočes made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. FC Orlando Pirates's Jaroslav Hampejs tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of FC VIKTORIA PLZEŇ booed when FC Orlando Pirates was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Klíč didn't get a good kick on the ball. Roman Stočes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Jaroslav Hampejs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute Roman Stočes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaroslav Hampejs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roman Stočes struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Jaroslav Hampejs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC VIKTORIA PLZEŇ. Jaroslav Hampejs stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roman Stočes's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. Jaroslav Hampejs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roman Stočes in the 22nd minute of play. Helmut Vnouček sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC VIKTORIA PLZEŇ's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Helmut Vnouček 26 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Roman Stočes might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jaroslav Hampejs. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roman Stočes ran back to his position shaking his head. Roman Stočes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaroslav Hampejs having to interfere. Jaroslav Hampejs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luboš Cigánek in the 33rd minute of play. Roman Stočes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Jaroslav Hampejs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jiří Bobek's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Petr Strouhal firmly grabbed it by the left post. A collision led to FC Orlando Pirates getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Michal Dub hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roman Stočes in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jaroslav Hampejs saved FC Orlando Pirates from getting behind. Jiří Bobek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Petr Strouhal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Helmut Vnouček in the 45th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 52nd minute, Jiří Bobek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Petr Strouhal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jiří Bobek in the 58th minute of the match. Jaroslav Hampejs was a little too slow when Roman Stočes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 67th minute. The score was now 1-2. Miroslav Fuxa took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jaroslav Hampejs. Jaroslav Hampejs dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. FC VIKTORIA PLZEŇ's Petr Strouhal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Helmut Vnouček in the 75th minute of play. When Matěj Pěnčík fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC VIKTORIA PLZEŇ's protests and gave Matěj Pěnčík a yellow card for diving instead. Matěj Pěnčík hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, FC Orlando Pirates's Josef Martinek tried to score from far away in the 79th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Roman Stočes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Jaroslav Hampejs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Petr Strouhal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jiří Bobek in the 83rd minute of play. After some careless play in the FC Orlando Pirates defense, Roman Stočes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jaroslav Hampejs. The FC Orlando Pirates fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jaroslav Hampejs should have stopped the shot. In the 89th minute Roman Stočes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaroslav Hampejs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 92 minutes, Matěj Pěnčík managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC VIKTORIA PLZEŇ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matěj Pěnčík was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jaroslav Hampejs made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Roman Stočes sent off a good shot on target.
