The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Per Aronsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miroslav Michna in the 12th minute of play. Libice's Per Aronsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Božetěch Nechvátal in the 14th minute of play. Česlav Bilý might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vladimír Myšák. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Česlav Bilý ran back to his position shaking his head. A hard shot 17 in the game by Česlav Bilý from a close distance when the talented Vladimír Myšák managed to make a qualified save. Lipec's players were relieved. A collision led to Lipec getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Vlastimil Škorpík hit a great ball. Rudolf Fidler kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Libice's zone, Vlastimil Škorpík stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Per Aronsson came out of the goal and Vlastimil Škorpík tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Česlav Bilý's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vladimír Myšák was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. In the 41st match minute, Libice was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Česlav Bilý to maneuver through the defense. In the 43rd minute, Česlav Bilý reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vladimír Myšák. The goal made the score 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Česlav Bilý was the one to do the kick off. Lipec's Vladimír Myšák played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roman Hobza in the 52nd minute of play. Česlav Bilý recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Božetěch Nechvátal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Per Aronsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miroslav Michna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71st minute, Vlastimil Škorpík hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Česlav Bilý in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vladimír Myšák saved Lipec from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Česlav Bilý managed to get in a good position for a shot. Libice's supporters rose to their feet, but Česlav Bilý was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vladimír Myšák breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Lipec getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Vlastimil Škorpík hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Česlav Bilý put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Vladimír Myšák. Roman Hobza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Lipec's Miroslav Michna in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Libice's goalie prevented a goal. Lipec's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
