Jeffrey Gugger might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bart Engel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jeffrey Gugger ran back to his position shaking his head. If Giulio Vehma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Forrest Nager fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SUM 41's protests and gave Forrest Nager a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Malix booed when SUM 41 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Forrest Nager didn't get a good kick on the ball. SUM 41's Bart Engel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giulio Vehma in the 21st minute of play. Bart Engel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred-Marc Lehmann in the 23rd minute of play. After 25 played minutes Malix got a freekick which was hit by Dieter Steinger. The referee felt a red card was in order, 27 minutes into the game, when Reto Tobler put in a rough tackle. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SUM 41! In the 30th minute there was a penalty for Malix. Jeffrey Gugger stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bart Engel. 0-2. Fred-Marc Lehmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bart Engel having to interfere. Bart Engel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giulio Vehma, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SUM 41's Bart Engel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giulio Vehma in the 38th minute of play. If Giulio Vehma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Malix's Fred-Marc Lehmann got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fred-Marc Lehmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ulf von Planta was the one to do the kick off. Ulf von Planta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Odo Zumsteg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Malix's Giulio Vehma sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bart Engel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ulf von Planta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 67 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. Bart Engel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fred-Marc Lehmann in the 79th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fred-Marc Lehmann in the 81st managed to get into a good position. After a defensive mix-up in SUM 41's zone, Fred-Marc Lehmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bart Engel came out of the goal and Fred-Marc Lehmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Malix's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
