Bernhard Hegglin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thorsten Belisle in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luca Carbonelli saved Trnava from getting behind. When Erik Sommer fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Trnava's protests and gave Erik Sommer a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Trnava getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Erik Sommer hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Thorsten Belisle in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luca Carbonelli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 73rd minute Romano Henchoz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernhard Hegglin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Serenus Dupasquier missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 83 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Luca Carbonelli right hand side.
