Spectators: 6746 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1746, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Luca Mazza made the kick off which started today's match. Nicola Scherer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Mazza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. F.C. LUZERN's Ignazio Guerra got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Grover Fankhauser showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Igor Schwerzmann in the 7th minute of the match. Igor Schwerzmann recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Grover Fankhauser took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ignazio Guerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th match minute, F.C. LUZERN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giancarlo Riedweg to maneuver through the defense. 16 minutes into the game, Tam Eichelberger was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F.C. LUZERN's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Steinhaus the free kick. Jacquin Banz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nicola Scherer. F.C. LUZERN's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to Steinhaus getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Marc Migneault hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ignazio Guerra in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Grover Fankhauser prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luca Mazza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luca Mazza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of F.C. LUZERN booed when Steinhaus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregory Pfulg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marc Migneault's late challenge caught a F.C. LUZERN's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marc Migneault helped the player get up and apologised. Marc Migneault kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Nicola Scherer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luca Mazza, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. 43 minutes into the match, F.C. LUZERN's Igor Schwerzmann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Grover Fankhauser narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 45th minute, Igor Schwerzmann left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The F.C. LUZERN fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1.

If Igor Schwerzmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 54 minutes into the match, Igor Schwerzmann had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Grover Fankhauser. Steinhaus's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Igor Schwerzmann was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Nicola Scherer didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luca Mazza went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. In the 66th minute Luca Mazza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicola Scherer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ignazio Guerra in the 69th minute of play forced Steinhaus's goalkeeper Grover Fankhauser to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as F.C. LUZERN's Giancarlo Riedweg slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Grover Fankhauser. That made the score 1-3 after 73 minutes of play. In the 76th minute Marc Migneault suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After a rather tough play, F.C. LUZERN's Tam Eichelberger got a free kick in the 77th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ralf Schroeder in the 83rd minute of play forced F.C. LUZERN's goalkeeper Nicola Scherer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 88 minutes into the game, Steinhaus's Ralf Schroeder nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nicola Scherer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. In the 95th minute Ralf Schroeder shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicola Scherer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The F.C. LUZERN supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing F.C. LUZERN would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
