Rainier Herz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pier Schwegler in the 15th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Novaggio AC's goal looked a bit too open when Pier Schwegler came free, but Rainier Herz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Pier Schwegler had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rainier Herz. Novaggio AC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pier Schwegler was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Novaggio AC's Dick Ciancone got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute of the match Severin Waltisberg sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rainier Herz skillfully saved the ball. Pier Schwegler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Rainier Herz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nikodemus Nyfeler kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clayton Keiser in the 39th minute of play forced Novaggio AC's goalkeeper Rainier Herz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pier Schwegler might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rainier Herz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pier Schwegler ran back to his position shaking his head. Rainier Herz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kevin Kirsch in the 42nd minute of play. After 43 played minutes Novaggio AC got a freekick which was hit by Fernand Izzo. Rainier Herz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pier Schwegler in the 46th minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pier Schwegler to strike the kick off in the second half. Rainier Herz made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Kevin Kirsch sent off a good shot on target. 65 minutes into the game, Grenn FC's Raymond Kohler nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rainier Herz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Philippe Zwahlen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerome Lajoie, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Heiner Olivieri managed to get in a good position for a shot. Novaggio AC's supporters rose to their feet, but Heiner Olivieri was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Philippe Zwahlen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jerome Lajoie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Pier Schwegler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Rainier Herz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rainier Herz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pier Schwegler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match was over Grenn FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Novaggio AC throughout the match.
