FC Zurich's Salvador Michon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Lüthi in the 13th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, FC Zurich's goal looked a bit too open when Guido Lüthi came free, but Salvador Michon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thommy Trucco hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After 19 minutes, Michael Chiavetta mouthed his way into the referee's book. Salvador Michon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guido Lüthi's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Philipp Rausis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Gabriel Ruppen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gabriel Ruppen came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by FC Zurich's Lewis Marthaler. But to his dismay, Lewis Marthaler quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Salvador Michon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guido Lüthi in the 38th minute of play. Guido Lüthi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in FC Zurich's zone, Guido Lüthi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Salvador Michon came out of the goal and Guido Lüthi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guido Lüthi was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, FC Zurich's goalkeeper Salvador Michon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paul Masciolo. If Paul Masciolo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Guy Lemmenmeier's late challenge caught a Flerden HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Guy Lemmenmeier helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to FC Zurich getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Guy Lemmenmeier hit a great ball. Salvador Michon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guido Lüthi in the 57th minute of play. Salvador Michon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guido Lüthi went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. FC Zurich's Salvador Michon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guido Lüthi in the 64th minute of play. When Guido Lüthi came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Flerden HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guido Lüthi couldn't finish the play. Paul Masciolo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Salvador Michon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paul Masciolo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 75thth minute, Salvador Michon skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Paul Masciolo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 86thth minute tested the skills of Salvador Michon when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 94thth minute of the game Guido Lüthi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Zurich's Salvador Michon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Flerden HC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing FC Zurich to leave the ground with a draw.
