Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Alwin Lowe started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Art Helfenstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alwin Lowe, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Art Helfenstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alwin Lowe in the 7th minute of play. Tizian Imboden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Falk Portmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chuck Keiser was extremely unlucky when he, in the 14th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Alwin Lowe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Art Helfenstein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 18 minutes of play, Chlötzlibieger's Emery Palorini made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tizian Imboden was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Chlötzlibieger's Emery Palorini got a free kick in the 21st minute. If Alwin Lowe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Falk Portmann managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chlötzlibieger's supporters rose to their feet, but Falk Portmann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tizian Imboden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chuck Keiser could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Art Helfenstein made a huge save. Alwin Lowe received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Art Helfenstein came out and tried to block the shot, but Alwin Lowe slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 45th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emery Palorini was the one to do the kick off. After 53 minutes of play, Grasshoppers's Chuck Keiser made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Art Helfenstein was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Falk Portmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 57 played minutes Grasshoppers got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Theiss. Emery Palorini struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Tizian Imboden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chlötzlibieger. Chuck Keiser sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Falk Portmann got free with Tizian Imboden in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 79th minute of the match Chlötzlibieger got a corner. Grasshoppers's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Amadeus Beaudry ran over to the corner to take the kick. Chlötzlibieger's Amadeus Beaudry was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tizian Imboden in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Alwin Lowe kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alwin Lowe in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Art Helfenstein saved Chlötzlibieger from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rafael Hess during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th match minute, Chlötzlibieger was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rafael Hess to maneuver through the defense. Art Helfenstein came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Grasshoppers's Alwin Lowe. But to his dismay, Alwin Lowe quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Grasshoppers fans cheered their team off the field, for while Chlötzlibieger had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
