After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Tonio Kaufmann managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gala Zürich's supporters rose to their feet, but Tonio Kaufmann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorian Walthert breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Odysseus Stuber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The supporters of Gala Zürich booed when Zug was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Janos Laderoute didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes in the game, Franziskus Jaun fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Dorian Walthert having to interfere. After having played for 44 minutes, Tonio Kaufmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gala Zürich's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tonio Kaufmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 46th match minute, Zug was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bastien Panara to maneuver through the defense. Gala Zürich's Bennett Palluzzi couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 47th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Zug. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hajo Pelchat made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Hajo Pelchat notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Gala Zürich's Carlo Ostermann. Carlo Ostermann was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 58th match minute, Gala Zürich was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ralf Bargherr to maneuver through the defense. Markus Furcas made in the 70th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Franziskus Jaun immediately put the ball in play. Franziskus Jaun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gala Zürich's Carlo Ostermann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hajo Pelchat in the 78th minute of play. Hajo Pelchat struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Carlo Ostermann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zug. After 82 played minutes Zug got a freekick which was hit by Bastien Panara. Harley Schermann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorian Walthert having to interfere. Tonio Kaufmann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dorian Walthert read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. In the 86th minute, Hajo Pelchat hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hajo Pelchat got free with Carlo Ostermann in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 89th minute, Bastien Panara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Tonio Kaufmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Gala Zürich manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Zug to win.
