But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Wirth couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Beat Castelletti managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Basilea's supporters rose to their feet, but Beat Castelletti was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dorian Walthert breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 14 minutes, Franziskus Melone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Basilea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franziskus Melone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 18 minutes in the game Mathieu Braulke did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Ulric Dobmann. Philip Hübscher made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When the referee ended the match the FC Basilea players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
