The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Felicien Schnieper came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the FC Asters fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felicien Schnieper couldn't finish the play. FC Asters's Janos Trommler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Trucco in the 9th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 13th minute of the game. One of FC Asters:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Rietli:s goal. The referee gave FC Rietli a penalty, 14 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Benoit Kirsch, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FC Asters's Janos Trommler. 0-1. 18 minutes into the game, Marco Trucco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Janos Trommler was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marco Trucco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Janos Trommler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Karl Egemann hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jud Mastroiacovo in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Janos Trommler saved FC Asters from getting behind. In the 25th minute, Ephraim Hess hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marco Trucco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 33 minutes into the match, Marco Trucco notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of FC Asters's Janos Trommler. Janos Trommler was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jud Mastroiacovo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jud Mastroiacovo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 46 minutes into the match, FC Asters's Laurentius Schwartz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alexej Graber narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The FC Asters players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Rietli were winning 0-3.

In the 61st minute Marco Trucco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Janos Trommler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felicien Schnieper blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alexej Graber having to make a save. After 67 played minutes FC Rietli got a freekick which was hit by Lucien Schumske. Alexej Graber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laurentius Schwartz, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. After 71 played minutes FC Asters got a freekick which was hit by Ephraim Hess. FC Rietli's Duarte Huber shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 73rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Janos Trommler but with some difficulty. The supporters of FC Rietli booed when FC Asters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurentius Schwartz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jud Mastroiacovo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jud Mastroiacovo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Janos Trommler having to interfere. Laurentius Schwartz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Alexej Graber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jud Mastroiacovo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. FC Rietli walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
