The supporters of FC Basel 1982 booed when Merdassonnet FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Soldati didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th match minute, FC Basel 1982 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thorsten Füglister to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rainer Sonsini to make the kick off. If Rainer Sonsini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 76th minute, Merdassonnet FC's Perez Weiss seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Perez Weiss the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Merdassonnet FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Perez Weiss had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Perez Weiss hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rainer Sonsini in the 84th minute of play forced Merdassonnet FC's goalkeeper Fiore Kluge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fiore Kluge didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Donato Gilli went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Donato Gilli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Fiore Kluge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Blaise Pellerucci charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Blaise Pellerucci the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 92nd minute, Blaise Pellerucci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd minute Donato Gilli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fiore Kluge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
