Remo Helfenstein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonard Megnet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Man city's Remo Helfenstein proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Man city from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leonard Karlen got free with Remo Helfenstein in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tade Vetter struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Remo Helfenstein didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fussball Club Luzern. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kian Korner in the 17th minute of play forced Fussball Club Luzern's goalkeeper Raul Walliser to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frasier Sauerberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Remo Helfenstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonard Megnet, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Kian Korner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Raul Walliser tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Ivan Wey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Frasier Sauerberg came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Man city fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frasier Sauerberg couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Man city defense, Benedict Lustenberger kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Remo Helfenstein. The Man city fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Remo Helfenstein should have stopped the shot. When Kian Korner came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Man city fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kian Korner couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Frasier Sauerberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Raul Walliser tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leonard Megnet took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Remo Helfenstein. Remo Helfenstein dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. A collision led to Man city getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Morten Baum hit a great ball. Joerg Chassot recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 68 played minutes, Fussball Club Luzern's Joerg Chassot shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Remo Helfenstein came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Fussball Club Luzern reached it. In the 70th minute, Ivan Wey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Remo Helfenstein took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonard Karlen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frasier Sauerberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raul Walliser having to interfere. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fussball Club Luzern's goalkeeper Raul Walliser, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 93 minutes into the game, Benedict Lustenberger was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fussball Club Luzern's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Man city the free kick. In the 93rd minute, Benedict Lustenberger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Fussball Club Luzern were victorious despite being under pressure from Man city for much of the match.
