The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Rocky Schaer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rigor Mortis's Bruno Capoccitti got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Florian Vetter fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Born71's protests and gave Florian Vetter a yellow card for diving instead. After 13 played minutes FC Born71 got a freekick which was hit by Florian Vetter. In the 19th minute Rocky Schaer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnold Konig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rocky Schaer in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnold Konig prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 27 minutes, Bruno Capoccitti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rigor Mortis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bruno Capoccitti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Arnold Konig showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Capoccitti in the 38th minute of the match. Alphonse Enzmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Florian Vetter in the 43rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rocky Schaer in the 45th minute of play forced FC Born71's goalkeeper Arnold Konig to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luther Käuflin to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpected shot in the 56th minute by Bruno Capoccitti got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 59th minute Rocky Schaer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnold Konig saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Rocky Schaer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnold Konig made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rocky Schaer in the 67th minute of play. Bruno Capoccitti blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arnold Konig having to make a save. Rocky Schaer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 73 minutes into the game, Julio Gianico was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Born71's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rigor Mortis the free kick. In the 74th minute, Julio Gianico hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Rocky Schaer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rigor Mortis's supporters rose to their feet, but Rocky Schaer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnold Konig breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arnold Konig showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rocky Schaer, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. After 81 played minutes FC Born71 got a freekick which was hit by Luther Käuflin. Arnold Konig made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Bruno Capoccitti sent off a good shot on target. FC Born71's Arnold Konig played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joe Megnet in the 86th minute of play. The FC Born71 fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Rigor Mortis were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
