Spectators: 7792 (Terracing: 5845, Seating: 1792, VIP seats: 155) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Lutger Hottiger took the kick off in the first half of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rick Eggenberger during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rick Eggenberger kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Tito Hulliger acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 4th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Danny Gartmann. Tito Hulliger made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Manuel Brun sent off a good shot on target. After 13 minutes Niederbuchsiten's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Justin Zinsli who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Basel FC's corner Justin Zinsli fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tito Hulliger quite easily take care of the ball. 17 minutes into the match, Basel FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lutger Hottiger came free, but Raphael Pollastrini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 17 minutes, Hauke Maina mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Basel FC and the Niederbuchsiten players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hauke Maina hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Ulrich Koenig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raphael Pollastrini having to interfere. After having played for 20 minutes, Lutger Hottiger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Niederbuchsiten's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lutger Hottiger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 21 played minutes Basel FC got a freekick which was hit by Oliver Iacovone. When Niederbuchsiten's Ulrich Koenig in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Basel FC's goalie prevented a goal. After 26 minutes, Josef Gier mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Niederbuchsiten and the Basel FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 27th minute, Josef Gier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Basel FC booed when Niederbuchsiten was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Stähelin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basel FC's Justin Zinsli shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 30th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Tito Hulliger but with some difficulty. Lutger Hottiger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 39 minutes of play, Niederbuchsiten's Lutger Hottiger made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Raphael Pollastrini was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 42nd minute Lutger Hottiger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raphael Pollastrini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tito Hulliger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Brun in the 45th minute of play. After having played for 48 minutes, Lutger Hottiger managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Niederbuchsiten's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lutger Hottiger was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Niederbuchsiten were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Manuel Brun made the kick off in the second half. Hauke Maina hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Basel FC's Danny Gartmann got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 73rd minute, Ulrich Koenig got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lutger Hottiger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raphael Pollastrini having to interfere. Ulrich Koenigs short, quick shot in the 78thth minute got Raphael Pollastrini to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lutger Hottiger in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Raphael Pollastrini prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 85th minute, Lutger Hottiger ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Raphael Pollastrini was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. When Josef Gier was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 89 minutes had been played. Niederbuchsiten played a much better game than Basel FC and deserved their victory. The Basel FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
