Jonah Lisibachs short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Salvador Faust to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Gianluca Burri's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Salvador Faust read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. A hard shot 21 in the game by Jonah Lisibach from a close distance when the talented Salvador Faust managed to make a qualified save. SL Benfica-Bern's players were relieved. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Herold Vonlanthen made a kick off. Huber Frost had several of the Werthenstein SC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 52 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Bernhard Pohland as he didn't even see the shot coming. With an all-out effort, SL Benfica-Bern's Bernhard Pohland threw himself towards the right post 55 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Herold Vonlanthen, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Gianluca Burri came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Werthenstein SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gianluca Burri couldn't finish the play. After 68 minutes, Franco Koller mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SL Benfica-Bern and the Werthenstein SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 70th minute Gianluca Burri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salvador Faust saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 70 minutes of play, Werthenstein SC's Gianluca Burri made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Salvador Faust was left in no man's land by his defense there! Werthenstein SC's Bernhard Pohland proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Werthenstein SC from getting a goal against them. Rowan Spagnuolo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Bernhard Pohland made a huge save. Julio Schwegler's late challenge caught a SL Benfica-Bern's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Julio Schwegler helped the player get up and apologised. SL Benfica-Bern's Herold Vonlanthen got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 85 minutes, Serenus von Arb mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Werthenstein SC and the SL Benfica-Bern players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 85th minute, Serenus von Arb hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Werthenstein SC's Leonard Bigler got a free kick in the 88th minute. SL Benfica-Bern's Ramon Paskuj got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 96th minute Jonah Lisibach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salvador Faust saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SL Benfica-Bern's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
