Gampel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tade Meyer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Curt Chauvet stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Lukas Pfaff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Curt Chauvet got free with Randy Wasser in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 68 minutes into the match, Gampel's Horaz Michel broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Curt Chauvet during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
