With his leg Francesco Kraus managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when Grashoppers Club Zürich's Renatus Holmann fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 12th minute, Grashoppers Club Zürich's Renatus Holmann ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Francesco Kraus. Francesco Kraus yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Francesco Kraus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Renatus Holmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 19 in the game by Tony Sauerberg from a close distance when the talented Francesco Kraus managed to make a qualified save. Herrenhof's players were relieved. Renatus Holmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francesco Kraus having to interfere. Renatus Holmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Francesco Kraus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Herrenhof getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Loic Locher hit a great ball. 30 minutes into the match, Jvo Strickler had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Markus Waltispühl. Grashoppers Club Zürich's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jvo Strickler was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. If Tony Sauerberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renatus Holmann in the 42nd minute of play forced Herrenhof's goalkeeper Francesco Kraus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tony Sauerberg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Francesco Kraus made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Tony Sauerberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grashoppers Club Zürich's supporters rose to their feet, but Tony Sauerberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francesco Kraus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lorenzo Stierli to make the kick off. Francesco Kraus came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Grashoppers Club Zürich's Renatus Holmann. But to his dismay, Renatus Holmann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. In the 72nd minute of the match, Lorenzo Stierli tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Markus Waltispühl saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Renatus Holmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Francesco Kraus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Renatus Holmann scored 4-1 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Francesco Kraus, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Renatus Holmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Francesco Kraus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Sauerberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Mike Büchel scored 5-1 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Francesco Kraus, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Grashoppers Club Zürich's Mike Büchel got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Grashoppers Club Zürich fully deserved thier win.
