Spectators: 8476 (Terracing: 6358, Seating: 1949, VIP seats: 169) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. After 12 played minutes Mjöllnir got a freekick which was hit by Dominik Dubois. After some careless play in the Mjöllnir defense, Celestino Drescher kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marc Brand. The Mjöllnir fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marc Brand should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hercules Dommen during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hercules Dommen hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Marc Brand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celestino Drescher in the 21st minute of play. Marc Brand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celestino Drescher, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by Mjöllnir's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Aurelius Amberg was slow to take the kick. During this time AS Rapperswil-Jona's players had a chance to rest. AS Rapperswil-Jona's Aurelius Amberg was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Marc Brand in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of Mjöllnir booed when AS Rapperswil-Jona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hercules Dommen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 31 played minutes Mjöllnir got a freekick which was hit by Ray Zurbuchen. Aurelius Amberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marc Brand read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Quentin Schmidlin during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 32 played minutes Mjöllnir got a freekick which was hit by Quentin Schmidlin. Mjöllnir's Marc Brand played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hercules Dommen in the 34th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Mjöllnir's zone, Celestino Drescher stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marc Brand came out of the goal and Celestino Drescher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hercules Dommen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 40 minutes into the match, AS Rapperswil-Jona's goal looked a bit too open when Didier Bonenfant came free, but Gerd Laforge reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Mjöllnir's Gerd Laforge threw himself towards the right post 45 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Didier Bonenfant, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Dominik Dubois kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. Marc Brand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aurelius Amberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 49th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hercules Dommen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Celestino Drescher got free with Marc Brand in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 59th match minute, AS Rapperswil-Jona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hercules Dommen to maneuver through the defense. If Didier Bonenfant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Mjöllnir defense, Celestino Drescher kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marc Brand. The Mjöllnir fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marc Brand should have stopped the shot. In the 69th minute Hercules Dommen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marc Brand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Celestino Drescher succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 71st playminute. In the 78th match minute, AS Rapperswil-Jona was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celestino Drescher to maneuver through the defense. Gerd Laforge showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ralf Scenna, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. When the match had gone on for 85 minutes, Celestino Drescher took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Marc Brand to make any attempt to save it. In the 89th minute, Arrigo Möckli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mjöllnir's Marc Brand proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Mjöllnir from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded AS Rapperswil-Jona left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mjöllnir.
